Any of my friends will vouch for the fact that I love films of all kinds. If I had the means, I'd by a pass to almost all of the film festivals that grace New York City's screens but not having means is how this blog came to be. So you might imagine my excitement to find out that the 11th Annual Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) is offering a number of free events.

New York premieres of Uprooted (Documentary, 2009, Columbia) and El Play (2008, Dominican Republic - U.S.). Director Pablo Medina will be present for Q&A.

Bronx Museum of the Arts
U.S. Premiere of 20 AƱos (Animation, 2009, Cuba) and World Premiere of Homo Erectus (Fiction, 2010, US/Cuba). The director and producer of Homo Erectus will be in attendance for a Q&A session. There will also be an after-party celebrating Cuban music with Pepito GOmez & his sextet and DJ Asho.
