The beauty of fashion week from an event perspective is that you don't have to be part of the in-crowd to enjoy it. I'm not referring to the fact that any one of us can linger around Lincoln Center to catch a glimpse of  the fashion world's who's who, but rather that there are some events for the masses. Fashion's Night Out is by far the best of them, but there are a few other gems still going on.

My friend Jen, of the blog Beauty & All That, and I visited the New York Fashion Week Allure Beauty Lounge (Empire Hotel, 44 W 63rd St). From 10 am to 4pm through September 13th, stop by for complimentary mini makeovers, hairstyling, skin consultations, beauty samples, and Diet Coke.

Through tomorrow September 9th, Gotham Lasik & Skincare (346 W 57th St) is offering free services (mini facials, mini eye revitalizer, express manicures) from 11 am to 6pm.Send email  to to reserve your spot.

If you like beauty products and you're not familiar with Birchbox, you should be.  For just $10 a month you get a subscription box with excellent quality beauty sample (I've discovered products that have become staples in my beauty bag). During Fashion Week, Birchbox is hosting a Sample Stop (think makeup and beauty products displayed like a candy store). Attendance is by invite, but  the blogosphere has got you covered on Sunday, September 9th. Tomorrow, stop by tomorrow between 11 am and 12 pm and mention the blog Beauty High or visit between 4 pm and 5pm as a guest of the blog Betty Confidential. The Birchbox Sample Stop is located at 459 W 15th Street (Between 9th and 10th avenues) across from the MILK Studios.

Get out there and channel the Fashion Week energy!
