I attended my first blogger conference last year and was grateful that it was Blogalicious. The manageable size of a couple of  hundred attendees (as opposed to thousands)  meant that unknown faces became familiar ones by the end of the first day.  The palpable positive aura and the collective desire for growth was so powerful, it was impossible to not be intoxicated by it. I found a community, a family that I didn't know I was missing and I knew that I would be back in 2012.

This year's Blogalicious family reunion took us to the Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa in Las Vegas. It was an opportunity to reconnect with bloggers who welcomed me into the fold last year. I found new inspiration for my writing via panels, keynotes and especially conversations with fellow bloggers, who I will surely be adding to my must read list. I met women and men who hustle on a daily basis to make their voices heard on the topics and issues they are passionate about, many who do so while holding down full time jobs and caring for families. People who remind me that there IS time to do whatever I strive to do if I cut out the distractions and the negativity and focus on the end goal.

Rather than expound on the conference details that so many of my fellow attendees have already put into writing, I'll share my top ten Blogalicious '12 experiences list:

  1. All of the amazing food - I'm haunted by memories of mango custard, lemon tarts, and mac & cheese
  2. The swag - Can't stop eating my Nature Made Gummy Vitamins
  3. Getting photo bombed by the guys at the McDonald's Viva Las Ladies Night (see above)
  4. Photo booth pictures with blogger friends
  5. Going to breakfast by myself only to walk out with 4 new conference friends
  6. Listening to Mario Armstrong drop some seriously savvy business tips
  7. Listening to these awesome women discuss their tips: @CityMama@HerBadMother@sgetgood@ModernMami@AnandaLeeke@laflowers, @AnaRC & @jylmomif
  8. Meeting so many other curvy and confident phenomenal women
  9. Dancing my booty off at the #GainFresh party
  10. Running into Doug E Fresh getting off the elevator and being able to get a picture with him and my friend Ruby of Growing up Blackxican (Mil gracias to the lovely Xenia of Raised By Culture for snapping the pic!!)

So regardless of whether or not you're a novice blogger or you've been writing for years, there is a place for you at Blogalicious and I hope to see you there next year.
